Program Description

The BA Communication Program of the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication is an undergraduate degree offering which aims to mold young leaders in the Philippines and ASEAN region in the field of Communication. Graduates of this program are exposed to various fields of Communication such as Market Research, Multi-Media Journalism, Broadcast, and Digital Marketing.

The Curriculum

In educating communicators in the last three decades, AIJC draws from its broad experience in implementing communication research, training, and collaborative projects in the Philippines and the Asian region.

The BA Communication focuses on Communication Expertise with a New Media Track. One of the first in the country, the New Media Track will allow students to utilize technology as a tool to communicate one’s message. This includes exploring various methods and practices associated with multimedia design, web design, broadcast journalism, video production and digital photography.

AIJC has partnered with NOW Corporation, a publicly listed firm in the Philippine Stock Exchange whose business operations are into telecommunications, media and technology or TMT.   2. Leveraging a Rich Knowledge Base in Communication
    1. AIJC Library – one of the largest library collections on Communication with a growing acquisition of 8,000 books and materials in other formats.
    2. The Faculty – members of the faculty are experienced practitioners and educators who can open perspectives and inspire the young students toward successful and satisfying communication careers. Faculty members involve their students in their own professional projects for easier entry in the industry.
    3. Student Residency Program – senior students of the BA Communication will have the chance to have their internship in any of AIJC’s partner business/multi-lateral institutions including the companies within the NOW Corporation umbrella.

Postgraduate Degrees toward Communication Leadership

After completing the BA Communication program students can develop their professional knowledge further by pursuing AIJC’s Masters’ Programs in Communication Management and in Journalism. These advanced programs will prime them for leadership roles in communication, media and new technology in the country or the ASEAN region. Graduates of AIJC are currently employed in top rank institutions including:

Scholarship and Financial Aid

AIJC is committed to enrolling the most qualified students regardless of their ability to pay. AIJC Communication Program awards assistance to incoming students each year. The following scholarships are available:

1. Merit Scholars

Merit scholarships are study grants that may cover up to 100% of tuition fees. On top of the study grant, merit scholars may be awarded monthly allowance to cover for books, travel, food and other related expenses. Merit scholars may be maintained up to the graduate year if the merit scholarship criteria are met.

Who may qualify?

      • Top 5 students of the graduating batch automatically qualify for 100% scholarship plus a monthly stipend.
      • Applicants whose high school average grade is at least 90% and are in good standing.

2. Financial Aid

Financial aid assistance is also available for students who meet certain criteria. The aid covers up to 100% of tuition fees. The grant is renewable every year provided that the criteria are properly met. Qualifications for financial aid are as follows:

  • Provide financial assistance documentation, specifically annual gross income is less than Php250,000 per year
  • High school average of at least 85%
  • Passed the interview evaluation

Financial aid scholars render some hours of service per week depending on the grant received.
