Fourth HEI joins coaching on labor migration reporting

The International Labour Organization (ILO)-Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC) partnership on the Fair Recruitment Initiative continues as one-on-one sessions with journalism teachers of higher education institutions (HEIs) are being conducted by ILO Media and Migration Consultant Charles Autheman.

The fourth HEI to join the individualized coaching on teaching the elective course, Reporting on Labor Migration, was the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila, with journalism faculty member Celeste Virginia Ylagan meeting online with Autheman on July 2, 2021.

The sessions with Paris-based Autheman are part of the capacity-building program of the ILO-AIJC project to enable HEI journalism teachers to teach Reporting on Labor Migration with the course syllabus developed under the project.

The teachers who participate in the one-on-one sessions will pilot-teach the course this coming first semester of academic year 2021-2022.

Other capacity-building activities conducted earlier were a webinar on labor migration with 34 HEI teachers and two days of group coaching sessions with 11 participants.

The project is led by ILO National Project Coordinator Hussein Macarambon, with AIJC Senior Director Ann Lourdes Lopez as Project Manager

Clockwise: HEI journalism teacher Celeste Virginia Ylagan of Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila, AIJC Senior Director Ann Lourdes Lopez, AIJC Program Officer Loregene Macapugay, ILO Consultant Charles Autheman.
