Francis X. Manglapus

Vice Chairman of NOW Telecom and President and COO of the Christian Social Democratic Union

Mr. Manglapus has had a long career in private business and political activities.  He graduated from Cornell University in 1978 and while living in New York City worked for the Inter-Continental Hotel, becoming the first Material Manager for the worldwide hotel chain which computerized the storage and purchasing facilities. He then moved into finance and sales joining Equitable Life and Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith.     Moving back to Manila after the EDSA People Power Revolution, he became President of a boutique financing company, Management Exchange Corporation, involved in the issuance of asset backed securities. He was also Chairman of Prime Saving Bank which was for a time one of the top 10 savings banks in the country.     He has also been Chairman of Bataan Shipyard and Engineering Company (Baseco) under the office of the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG).  He has been active in numerous local and national political campaigns, reaching the Presidency of the Lakas Kampi Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas CMD) in 2010 which was the political party in power at that time. He has also represented Lakas CMD in various regional and international organizations, becoming the first Secretary General of the Centrist Asia Pacific Democrats International with deep relations with the European People’s Party which is the party in power in the European Parliament.     He has been active with Now Corporation since 2019 and is now the Vice Chairman. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Asian Institute for Journalism and Communication, President and COO of the Christian Social Democratic Union and the Raul S. Manglapus Center for Freedom and Democracy.     For relaxation, he is the band leader of the Executives Band, a jazz band made up of business executives founded in 1957 by his late father, Raul S. Manglapus.
