This course provides a practical, step-by-step approach to planning, designing, configuring, and refining AI models within the ChatGPT platform. From mastering the fundamentals of prompt engineering to leveraging advanced features like file uploads and output control, learners will gain the confidence and skills to create tools for personal or professional use.

9:30 – 10:15 AM | Understanding Custom GPTs + Prompt Engineering Basics

  • What is a custom GPT? Demo of real examples
  • How GPTs are built in ChatGPT
  • Role of prompt engineering
  • Introduction to C.R.E.A.T.E. and R.I.D.E. frameworks
  • Basic prompt formula: Role + Task + Format

Activity: Write a custom prompt for your personal use case using C.R.E.A.T.E.

10:15 – 11:15 AM | GPT Builder Walkthrough + Instruction Writing

  • Live demo: Creating a GPT in the Builder
  • GPT name, instructions, conversation starters, file upload
  • Crafting a solid GPT instruction using your C.R.E.A.T.E.-based prompt hands-on

Activity: Participants begin creating their GPTs using GPT Builder

11:15 AM – 12:00 NN | Peer Testing + Prompt Refinement

  • Pair up and test each other’s GPTs
  • Use R.I.D.E. framework to revise unclear instructions
  • Add tone, constraints, and examples to improve output quality

12:00 – 1:00 PM | Lunch Break

1:00 – 2:15 PM | GPT Testing, File Uploads, and Output Format Control

  • Adding support files or documents
  • Testing real-world prompts (e.g., “Summarize this PDF” or “Write an email response”)
  • Tuning responses: tone, length, formatting

Activity: Continue building and testing your GPT

2:15 – 3:15 PM | GPT Showcase + Feedback

  • Learner presentation of the following: GPT name and use case, target users and output goals, what worked well, what needed tweaking
  • Optional group feedback or “lightning round” peer reviews

3:15 – 5:00 PM | Deployment, Sharing and Wrap-Up

  • How to share your GPT (public vs private)
  • Naming and description tips
  • How to continue developing beyond the seminar

Training Requirements:

  1. No coding knowledge required; just your creativity and willingness to learn.
  2. Sign up for a ChatGPT account at https://chat.openai.com. Be familiar with the ChatGPT interface.
  3. Upgrade to ChatGPT Plus before the seminar date.
  4. Prepare 1-2 ideas of repetitive or time-consuming tasks in your work that GPT might help automate.
